Merino wool is a renewable material that has low environmental impact.

It’s a breed of sheep that has particularly fine and ultra soft wool. These sheep are trimmed once a year, this is a natural and renewable material.
This exploitation’s environmental impact are low as this process consumes less water.
Natimeo collaborates with Australian producers capable of supplying “pure virgin wool”, that is known for its quality.

Fertile and living soils, less pollution

The excrement of earthworms are rich in nutrients and holes they dig generate nitrogen which increases soil fertility.

The Natimeo team supports its producers in their efforts to create and respect a set of guiding principles which guarantee the organic credentials of their crops. For example :

Multi cropping
Natural defoliation (leaf drop) after harvest
Worm Culture : breeding of worms which aerate the ground
Mulching (stamping)
Using natural fertilizers (ex : cow dung)

Preservation of biodiversity, less pollution of water tables

The yellow plate is coated with neem oil (Indian tree which acts like a natural pesticide) attracts the insects and they die by hitting it.

Natimeo guarantees that its organic cotton is grown:

with natural insecticies (ex : preparation primarily based on neem leaves)
with pheromon trap for bug arrest
with “beneficial” use of insect (eg: beetle and spiders)

Reduction in water consumption

The water economies realised by rainwater harvesting allows to reduce the environmental impact of the cotton organic farming.

Natimeo organic cotton is grown in Indian zones primarly using rainwater for irrigation or drip irrigation therefore reducing the need for artificial irrigation.

Since 2008, Natimeo’s Indian team develops, in a village of Tamil Nadu region, an environmental and human project :

Natimeo uses dye products selected in particular for their respect for production workers, consumers and the environment. For example by limiting the use of heavy metals, allergenic substances, chlorinated products, PVC-based printing inks…

The Natimeo team works with its partners to ensure the best possible working conditions for workers. In factories, checks ensure that hygiene standards, substances used and the safety standards of the premises and the machinery meet the required level.
Natimeo develops organic cotton fabrics that are grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers, minimising health and safety hazards for farmers.
There is regular monitoring on the following criterias minimum age of workers, no forced labour, no discriminatory practice, no abusive disciplinary methods, checks on hours worked, wage and labour policy checks.

To reduce the environmental impact of production and reduce cost of raw materials, the Natimeo team is working to optimise its design and production methods. Methods which generate the least raw material wastage are used. This enables us to offer quality products at a reasonable price to the largest number of customers.

A few simple gestures for reducing your electricity bill and your environmental footprint:

Avoid using the pre-wash setting.
Wash clothes 10°C cooler (up to 37% energy saving) or on a cold wash.
Dry clothes outdoors or limit your use of the tumble-dryer.
Use a certified ecological washing powder.
Choose a washing powder with recyclable or recycled packaging.
Wash your merino wool clothes only after several wears, as their fibres naturally limit odours.

stability…)
